Slow and not super high res images

I have the new Macbook and the images aren’t grainy or blury by any means, but it is certainly not as crisp as it should be for paying $3. They just don’t look as nice as the stock background images Apple provides. It is also super slow on this Macbook (even without the animation) which is odd because it’s just downloading images, right? I could be wrong, but yes, my Macbook froze as soon as I tried to open it. After a restart it didn’t freeze, but it was very slow. I will try to get a refund.
